Also  It’s expedient to go down the memory lane of how the club started.’ Without an event there cannot be history’ goes a popular adage. Sometime in early 2010, a group of active men and women gathered together at Suncity   Exclusive Hotel Awka to think of an avenue for service to humanity. It is this gathering led (tattled) to the club being chartered by Rotary International on 11thFebruary, 2011.This new baby called Awka Metropolis born into the family of district 9140  now rebirth to 9142 and the community of Rotary International has its proportionate dose of teething problems and challenges. With dogged determination, commitment and team work, the club was able to grapple with the problems and soon positioned itself as a force to be reckoned with within the district.
What a privilege it is to be linked with over one million people across the globe, differing in languages, customs, and historical background; and yet alike in one respect – people of different vocations, held together by a common destiny, the ideal which is popularly known as the ideal of service.
As part of moves to eradicate polio in the country, the club has been   marking a Polio Awareness Day every 24th October.It is always a unique opportunity, on the Polio Eradication campaign, to interact with the public and let them know more about Rotary and its efforts to the global polio eradication activities. This is the major goal of Awka Metropolis. This new club had already sponsored the end of polio bill board as directed by District.
Rotary Club of Awka Metropolis is propelled by the mission of Rotary International 'to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders' has used the Rotarian 4-way test as an effective measuring stick for conduct. It has been a guide to RIGHT thinking. It has been memorised and applied in relationship with others, and has made definite contributions toward more effective and friendlier relationships.
In line with the theme for the rotary year 2018/2019, the focus would be on family, continuity, and changeFamily is the centre of everything, and not just our immediate family but also about the Rotary family and the world as one big family. A wish for global peace should start from individual families and communities. To stop environmental degradation, reduce child mortality rate or prevent hunger, then we as individuals must be change agents.
In the words of Rotary International President for the year 2018/2019, 'discover yourself, develop the strengths within you, and then unhesitatingly, unflinchingly, go forth and encircle the world, to embrace humanity. This is apt as the communities we live in are not built of individual people but of families. Good families lead to good neighborhoods, and good neighborhoods build good communities.'
The fame of honour for the president of the club since inceptions are

The goal of Rotary lays emphasis on Disease Prevention and treatment, Education and,  Economic and Community Development, Maternal and Child Health, Water and Sanitation. Regardless of the resourceful energy and great ideas behind the projects undertaken by the organisation, its viability depends on adequate funding. These lofty projects are well funded through contributions from members, creative fundraising activities and charity from individuals/nongovernmental agencies. Rotarians who distinguish themselves via their work in the Avenues of Service which criteria would be based on a selection from a menu of activities would be accorded due recognition and reward.
