The member representing Anambra East Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Chief Obinna Emeneka has presented cheques to fifty secondary school students he awarded scholarship recently.
The ceremony held at the State House of Assembly was witnessed by the parents of the beneficiaries.
The students who benefited from Chief Emeneka's scholarship scheme were drawn from Virgin Mary Convent, Umueri and Madonna Secondary school, Umueri.
Others are PHD students, five MSC students and thirteen undergraduate students drawn from various communities in Anambra East Constituency.
In his remarks, the benefactor, Chief Emeneka explained that the scheme which gulped five million naira was born out of his love for education and the need to assist parents reduce the burden of sponsoring their children's education at this harsh economic condition and will cover their tuition fees for one academic year.
The Lawmaker charged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously as there cannot be meaningful human capital development in the society without good education.
On his part, the Principal, Madonna Secondary School, Umueri, Mr. Uchenna Nworie described Chief Emeneka as an honest legislator who has impacted positively on the lives of the downtrodden.
His counterpart from Virgin Mary Convent, Umueri, Reverend Chuma Ezechi attested that the people of Anambra East Constituency and his school have enjoyed quality representation from Chief Emeneka.
Expressing their gratitude to the benefactor, some of the beneficiaries including Miracle Kalu and Chidiebere Aghadinuno assured Chief Emeneka that they would not disappoint him.
