Governor Willie Obiano has inaugurated the South-East Chapter of the Association of Public Health Practitioners.
The event which took place at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat Complex in Awka, attracted members of the Association from the five States in the South-East geo-political zone, government functionaries as well as relevant stakeholders.
Inaugurating members of the Association, Governor Obiano represented by the Deputy Director in charge of Pharmacy in the State Ministry of Health, Mr Azubuike Nwizu appreciated members of the Association for the critical role they play in providing health services to the people, especially those at the hinterlands and assured that his administration will continue to partner with groups, individuals and associations committed to the welfare of the people.
Governor Obiano further assured that his government would not relent in giving Ndi Anambra a health care system that is comparable with those in developed nations of the world, hence numerous interventions and innovations his administration has put in place in the State's Health sector, even as he charged them to be highly dedicated in their duties at all times for a healthy society.
According to the South East Zonal Co-ordinator of the Association, Mr. Bekee Igbojionu, the associyation is out to help government to bring health care services to the People's door step, adding that they have carried out free medical outreach to help the government and solicited government’s assistance to help them actualize their aims and objectives.
Also speaking, the State Chairman of the Association, Mrs. Benedicta Lotenna noted that they are out to prevent occurrence of diseases through research and requested governments support.
A lecture was also presented on the topic "Repositioning Public Health for Optimal Performance".
