 The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Barrister Rita Maduagwu has described the state workforce as the best in the country in terms of comportment and dedication to duty.

In her goodwill message to mark this year’s Workers Day, Barrister Maduagwu extolled the contributions of workers towards the development of the state, noting that they are the engine that drive all sectors of the state’s economy.
The Speaker who commended Governor Willie Obiano for his steadfastness in payment of worker’s salary in the state as well as provision of other incentives to the workforce, enjoined workers to reciprocate the gesture by showing more support to the Obiano administration and upholding the tenets of the civil service.
On his part, the Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Anglican Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Reverend Godwin Okpala, urged the Federal Government to use the opportunity of this year’s May Day celebration to make a pronouncement on the implementation of the minimum wage for workers.
Archbishop Okpala who described the civil servants as the engine room of the nation’s economy, called on government to map out measures that will improve their lot.
Contributing, an industrialist, Chief Godwin Okafor called on the Federal Government to be serious with his economic policy.
Chief Okafor who is a community leader in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area called for the revamping of all moribund industries in the country, through improved power generation.
