The members of the new State Executive of the National Youth Council of Nigeria have been charged to be more proactive and ensure positive engagement of youths of the State through various youth-oriented programs.
Governor Willie Obiano was speaking while playing host to a delegaion from the Council Executive led by its State Chairman, Mr. Samuel Egwuatu, at the Government House, Awka.
Governor Obiano, represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, pledged his administration's belief in the youth and their abilities, which is evident in his adoption of youths into his cabinet.
The Governor congratulated the new executive, expressing optimism that under their administration, the council will be taken to greater heights.
Earlier, the State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Mr. Egwuatu, said that the visit was customary, having being newly elected ,saying that the association which is the apex youth umbrella body in Nigeria has the primary role of youth mobilization and reorientation.
Mr. Egwuatu noted that they have various youth organizations ranging from faith-based to community-based as members, and appreciated the Governor for his leadership ingenuity, and appealed for support from the State government.
In a vote of thanks, the Legal Counsel of the group, Barrister Richard Ezechukwu, thanked the Governor for giving them audience, stressing that the Council played a vital role in the massive sensitization of youths on the implications of election boycott, among others, in the recently concluded gubernatorial election, pledging their commitment towards giving Anambra youths its pride of place in the country.
