The atmosphere at the Secretariat of Ogbaru local government area was yesterday electrified with mamouth crowd as the new Transition Committee Chairman of the local government, Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu, took over from the former Transition Committee Chairman, Barr. Ignatius Akaka.

Handing over details of his stewardship, Barr. Akaka said that he met a local government Secretariat that was in shambles a year ago but through his effort was able to raise the stake and said that he was happy that the person replacing him is a performer with proven record of excellence who will take the local government to higher level.

In his speech, the new Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu appreciated the former Transition Committee Chairman for his service to the people of Ogbaru and convened his good wishes, assuring him of a place in his program going forward.
Hon. Awogu poured encomium on the governor of Anambra state, His Excellency, Dr. Willie Obiano and appreciated the governor for finding him worthy to serve in that capacity and said that Ogbaru will be transformed for the better. He said that what is dear to the people of Ogbaru LGA is physical development and assured that his stay in office will help relaunch Ogbaru into self rediscovery and accelerated development as he is aware that the governor has Ogbaru at heart. He urged the civil servants, most of whom live and operate from outside Ogbaru LGA to place more importance to where they earn their living which is Ogbaru and said that he will not think twice to sanction lack of commitment to duty and lateness.
The Chairman, shortly after the handover undertook the inspection of all the offices and buildings in the Secretariat and expressed dissatisfaction over the sorry-state of most offices and buildings particularly the legislative complex.
The handover was witnessed by the Head of Local Government Administration (Ogbaru LGA), Engr. Chris Ugwumadu; Heads of Departments, Supervisory Cancellors, APGA faithful, among others. The large  number of people that trooped to the Secretariat were later addressed by Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu at the Council Hall.
