The media has been charged to be alive to the role of reporting good governance especially with regards to quality developmental strides of the Governor Willie Obiano's administration.

The call was made by Independent Media Support Organization during a media briefing in Awka.
Briefing the media on the role of media in sustaining productive Governance, the spokesperson of the group Chief Harris Chukwuma said there is need for the media to report activities of the government in road construction, job creation, caring for the aged, overhauling of agriculture and education sectors among others.
Chief Chukwuma added that the media should equally report corruption as the watchdog of the society regretting that journalists are no longer dishing out information to the public.
While stressing the need for the media to overcome their challenges Chief Chukwuma advised them to re-invent themselves and inform the under informed, especially in a society like Anambra where things are working out.
He expressed satisfaction with what Governor Obiano has achieved in his first tenure and was optimistic that there are better days ahead, as more democracy dividends will be unfolded after the handover.
The event featured discussions where discussants brought to bear some major challenges faced by journalists in the state especially stiff attitude from some government officials regarding the activities of the government.
On the role of the media towards the success of the second term of the Obiano's administration, the discussants made it clear that journalists should take up the task of informing the people and the government.
They urged the media to go all out and bring out silent issues that may not be known to the government, but not with the intention of puncturing the government.
