Obiano Approves 2015/2016 promotion for all deserving workers

The worker-friendly Governor, Chief Willie Obiano announced that he has signed the promotion letters of the 2015 and 2016 deserving workers which include teachers and local government staff. The announcement was made by the governor during the 2017 world Teacher's Day celebration in the state held at Anambra Teachers House in Awka.
The event with the theme: "Teaching in Freedom, Empowering Teachers ", attracted teachers from the 21council areas of the state. Addressing the teachers, Governor Obiano revealed that the implementation of the promotion package will commence by the 25th of this month when the October salaries will be paid.
He emphasized that the state education system under his leadership is waxing stronger, explaining that his government is investing heavily in the welfare of teachers to keep them in the right frame of mind to give their best in training the children.
According to him, his government has renovated 2100 classroom blocks across the 3 senatorial districts and teachers are now being motivated to teach in very remote areas, while those teaching core science subjects and Igbo language also receive additional pay. He urged the teachers to be more dedicated in their duties so as to sustain the state's Prime position in education in the country. The National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Comrade Michael Olukoya represented by the Assistant NUT Secretary, Cross River state, Comrade Nathaniel Metu in an address acknowledged that teachers in the state are rejoicing because they have a governor that cares.
The Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Omenugha represented by the Permanent Secretary in her Ministry, Mrs Ifeoma Ezeaku pointed out that the Ministry is already achieving its mandate of leaving no child behind in its education initiatives and urged the teachers to imbibe the qualities of diligence and selflessness and keep tab with new technological advancements in the discharge of their duties.
The Chairman on the occasion and former Awka Zonal Director of the Post Primary School Service Commission, Dr Ngozi Agbasimalo noted that the occasion is used to celebrate the vital contributions teachers make to education and development as well as to reflect on ways to address the challenges militating against the teaching profession.

The State NUT chairman in his address, reeled out the major milestones of the present  administration in the education sector even in the face of dwindling economy and said Anambra teachers are indebted to him.Governor Obiano at the event inaugurated a 200kva generator donated to the Union by his administration as well as presented certificates of registration to school cooperatives in Agriculture and business ventures.
