The State government has again reiterated its commitment towards providing quality education in schools across the state as a way of securing a better future for the state. Governor Willie Obiano was speaking when he received a delegation from the Old Girls Association of Queen of the Rosary College, Onitsha at the Governor's Lodge, Amawbia.
Governor Obiano described education as the only leveller that can guarantee a better tomorrow for the children of the poor and the rich alike. He said under his watch, education had grown from strength to strength while examination malpractice has been eliminated, adding that the numerous awards which teachers and students from the state are winning are testament to the transformation in the sector.
Governor Obiano urged the Old Girls to organise themselves better in a manner that they can raise funds to address some of the challenges faced by their Alma mater, reminding them that government alone cannot undertake the task of transforming the education sector with its lean resources.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, Ogbuefi Tony Nnachetta noted that the present administration has shown in visible terms that it is averse to substandard education and said that informed its many interventions to bring back the lost glory of the state education system.

The Global President of the Association, Dr NgoziOkose expressed the association's gratitude to the governor for all he has done in upgrading infrastructure in their Alma mater for the past three and half years and assured him that they have resolved to support his second term bid to ensure that the good works continue.
