The Wife of the State Governor Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, has called on Mothers to be alive to their responsibilities.

She made the call at the thirty-Second Awka Diocesan Women's Conference, currently going on at Saint Mark's Anglican Church, Umuawulu, in Awka South Local Government Area.
The Governor’s wife who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, Mrs Amaka Ezike, re-affirmed that the Obiano administration has the interest of the women at heart, announcing that over three hundred and fifty Women of Anambra extraction, are currently undergoing skill acquisition training at the Mary Sumner Vocational and Training Institute Awka.
Earlier in a sermon, the Bishop of Awka Diocese Right Reverend Alexander Ibezim, stressed the need for Christians to have absolute faith in God in order to overcome life’s challenges.
Also speaking the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly Sir Harford Oseke, who hails from Umuawulu, expressed the hope that the conference will bring more blessings to the community.
Contributing, the traditional ruler of Umuawulu Igwe Joel Egwuonwu, who said that the coming of Christianity has ended all obnoxious practices including killing of twins, commended Bishop Ibezim for his good work in Awka Diocese, calling for its sustenance.
The Vicar of the Church Reverend Cannon Vincent Nkemdilim thanked all those that made the event a huge success.
Cutting of cake, prayers and thanksgiving formed the high points of the conference which has its theme as "For We Walk by faith, Not by Sight".
