Wife of the State Governor, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano has called for the inclusiveness of every child in the scheme of human development.

Mrs Obiano stated this in her message on the occasion of the 2018 International Day for African Child held at Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.
The International Day of the African Child is celebrated on the sixteenth of June every year to commemorate the 1976 gruesome killings of some school children in Soweto.
Speaking on the theme of this year's celebration : “Leave no Child Behind for African Development”, the Governor's wife noted that a lot of prevailing challenges are facing the African child, which she said is militating against child’s welfare, growth and development in life.
Recapturing a stanza from the American singer Whitney Houston's famous song, “Greatest Love of All”, Chief Mrs Obiano reassured the children that she will continue to work for their well being with NGOs through her pet progamme, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFÉ, to support and encourage their hopes, dreams and aspirations.
Earlier in her keynote address, the Commissioner for Social Welfare, Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Umezue, said the Ministry's achievements in the areas of sensitization and education of children in the state is predicated on the responsiveness of the Willie Obiano government to issues relating to child rights and welfare.
In a message on fight against child and human trafficking, the Zonal Coordinator, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Enugu Zonal Command, Mrs. Comfort Agboko, urged the children to avoid falling prey to traffickers by submitting to deceitful promises of dubious persons who come with the promises of better lives for them elsewhere.
Also speaking, the Speaker, Children’s Parliament, Right Honourable Mary-Faustina Okoye, who said the event provided children with rare privilege of acknowledging the importance placed on them by the society, called on government at all levels to avail the children conducive environment to achieve their life's aspirations .
Highlights of the occasion were presentation of reading materials, cultural dance, competitions, drama and presentation of awards to the children that emerged victorious in the various competitions.
