The State government says it will set up a court to handle farmers that reneged in making judicious use of farm inputs allotted them.

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export, Mr Afam Mbanefo, disclosed this at Achalla in Awka North Local Government area during the inauguration of this year's IFAD Value Chain Development Programme, VCDP, farm inputs disbursement to farmers in the five participating Local Government areas.
The Commissioner, who announced that they have enough quantities of fertilizer and other inputs that have been drastically subsidized by Governor Willie Obiano, enjoined other farmers that are not programme based to go to their various zonal offices, to be identified, validated and collect available farm inputs.
While stating that their primary objective is to increase multiplication centers and yield across the State, to serve the entire country, Mr. Mbanefo noted that it is aimed at sustaining production and achieving standardization.
He however announced that the Ministry will in collaboration with IFAD VCDP establish a Research and Development center for testing of seeds.
Inaugurating the exercise at Omor, in Ayamelum Local Government area, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture, Mr. Obioma Mbanefo who promised continuous monitoring, enjoined beneficiaries to make judicious use of the inputs to achieve the desired results.
The State Programme Co-ordinator of IFAD-VCDP, Mr. Nnamdi Agwuncha, said the inputs disbursement is aimed at encouraging beneficiaries for increased yields and income.
While announcing that the programme will wind up in December 2019, Mr. Agwuncha, disclosed that approval has been given for its extension. 
Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Francisca Okolo of Njikobi Women Cooperative Society Achalla, Mrs Oluchukwu Nnalue of Osodieme Women Group, Ifite- Ogwari and Mr. Simeon Nosike who applauded IFAD-VCDP for the inputs and for building their capacities, promised to make judicious use of the inputs as well as empower others.
The event featured redemption exercise by the Commissioner for Agriculture Mr. Mbanefo.
