Quest for the soul of Ogbaru Federal Constituency 2019: A former Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly and an aspirant for House of Representatives, Ogbaru Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Rt. Hon. Chinwe Nwaebili, yesterday, visited Onuiyi Haven, the residence of the Chairman of Ogbaru local government area, Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu.

The former Speaker was accompanied on the visit by Chief Nnamdi Achike, Prince Okey Afubero among others. They were warmly received by the Mayor of Ogbaru local government who incidentally has become a rallying point ever since becoming the Chairman of the local government. The former lawmaker wasted no time in laying bare her reason for the visit.

She thanked Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu for according her a warm reception and said that her visit was to congratulate him on his new appointment which she said was well deserved and would change the face of Ogbaru local government for good. "I was in the US when the news of the appointment came and I texted to congratulate you and promised to visit in person as soon as I returned. It is in fulfilment of that promise that I am here today," Mrs. Nwebili said.

The former lawmaker used the opportunity to inform Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu of her intention to running for the seat of House of Representatives, Ogbaru Federal Constituency come 2019 and solicited Hon. Awogu's support. Earlier, Chief Nnamdi Achike had introduced the subject of Mrs. Nwebili's visit and said that the support of Hon. Awogu is vital to the actualization of her dream to represent the people of Ogbaru at the green chamber.

The Council boss, Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu appreciated the former Speaker and her team for deeming it neccessary to visit Onuiyi Haven, saying that Onuiyi Haven is a melting pot for the progressives who are desirous of recreating, reconstructing and reinventing Ogbaru that is founded on love, equity, fairness, justice, brotherhood and truth. He said that Ogbaru of today is in dire need of selfless representatives and passionate leaders. Leaders that will not mislead the people; "Ogbaru is finally exciting the medieval period where retrogression occasioned by criminal neglect and total ostracization of a whole population by a few self-centered opportunists led to the physical underdevelopment seen in Ogbaru today.

"As the campaign season approaches and as we contemplate the forthcoming national elections as they concern Ogbaru people, I think that the people of Ogbaru will take to heart the words of Josiah Gilbert Holland penned over a century ago: God give us men! for a time like this demands strong minds, great hearts, true faith, and ready hands; Men whom the lust of office does not kill; Men whom the spoils of office cannot buy; Men who possess opinions and a will; Men who have honor, men who will not lie; Men who can stand before a demagogue, and damn his treacherous flatteries without winking! Tall men, sun crowned, who live above the fog in public duty, and in private thinking; For while the rabble, with their thumb worn creeds, their large professions and their little deeds, mingle in selfish strife, Lo! Freedom weeps, wrong rules the land and waiting justice sleeps." The words of Josiah Gilbert Holland, Hon. Awogu said; "speaks to our shared desires for able and worthy leadership in Ogbaru which is what an average Ogbaru native is yearning for."

Hon. Awogu maintained that Ogbaru cannot afford to be left out in a period when all others have embraced physical development, people oriented representation and impactfull leadership and opined that Rt. Hon. Chinwe Nwaebili is a proud and worthy daughter of Ogbaru local government and has served the good people of Ogbaru to the best of her ability and as such will continue to be admired by many.

He wished her well and assured her that he will encourage and strengthen all processes that will ensure that the best among the people steps forward to the plate to guarantee the much needed dividends of democracy  to the exhausted and neglected people of Ogbaru. The Council Chairman had earlier stressed the need for unity among various interests in the party and assured that all interests will be accommodated in such a way that the party in Ogbaru will be stronger after candidates must have all emerged so as to replicate the 21 over 21 victory recorded in the November 18th governorship election.

Hon. Engr. Okey Udeze and Hon. Hipolitus Obi also expressed their satisfaction over the visit by the lawmaker and said that it will further strengthen the party in readiness for the forthcoming general elections. They equally thanked the Council Chairman for his accommodating spirit, saying that such is what Ogbaru needs in order to move forward.

The Council boss had earlier this week received Hon. Sir Benson Nwawulu who is also running for the seat of Ogbaru Federal Constituency and was present at the local government party secretariat where Hon. Nwawulu declared his Ogbaru house of representatives ambition.
