Some markets in the state have completed the first phase of the choose your project initiative introduced by Governor Willie Obiano , and have applied for the second tranche.

Among the markets visited were Motorcycle Spare Parts Market and Fairly Used and New motorcycle sections.
When ABS arrived the Motorcycle Spare Parts Market Nnewi, the environment was a sight to behold with maintenance work going on most feeder roads in the market, while some have been completed.
ABS also saw an office building complex, completed and already in use by the market Executive members.
The chairman of the Spare Parts section of Nkwo Nnewi Market, Mr. Obinna Okechukwu, told the ABS that the building was erected with the ten million naira grant from Governor Obiano.
He thanked Governor Obiano for giving them the opportunity for being part of government by allowing them choose what they want, noting that it is the most effective way of bringing governance closer to the people.
The Secretary of the market, Mr. Uchenna Ezechukwu, noted that the move by Governor Obiano has set precedence as traders no longer argue whenever they are paying for development levy with which they work on the roads since according to him, they cannot have such a beautiful office complex in an unkempt environment.
Others who spoke including Messrs Emeka Okoli , George Okonkwo, and Chukwulobe Okeke, expressed appreciation to the Governor whom they said, has come to develop the state even in the face of economic crisis, assuring him of their support at all times.
At the Fairly Used and New Motorcycle sectiond, a 100 KVA sound proof generating set has been mounted and about to start functioning as all installation work has been completed. 
The chairman of the section, Mr. Chukwueloka Ubajekwe, said they were in need of power supply to boost their businesses and as well as accommodate those whose residences and industries are located around the area to ease production cost, promising that the traders will be paying their taxes and levies as and when due.
