The Registrar, Medical Laboratory Science of Nigeria, Sir Tosan Irapko, has stressed the importance of medical laboratory scientists towards the overall wellbeing of the citizenry.

Sir Tosan who stated this at the induction ceremony of Medical Laboratory Science students of Anambra State Collage of Health Technology, Obosi, in Idemii North Council Area, described the occasion as a process of officially welcoming new graduands into the fold of the professional body.
He urged students to justify the efforts of government in establishing the school as well as that of their parents in preparing them for a brighter future and counseled them to live up to expectations with regards to the conduct and ethics of the profession.
Sir Tosan represented by Dr Donald Ofili, further charged them to operate under the supervision of a medical laboratory scientist for guidance.
The Head of Department, Medical Laboratory of the College Mr. Obienu Egbe, charged the inductees to be good ambassadors of the institution as well as the students not to toy with their studies as hard work is the price of academic excellence and success.
The Chairman on the occasion, Comrade Chukwuemeka Okechukwu in his opening remarks, noted that the place of Medical Laboratory Science cannot be overemphasized as it is indispensable in health management and treatment of patients.
Comrade Okechukwu further pointed out that no serious minded medical doctor makes prescription without reference to diagnosis, lending credence to the vital role the field of study plays in the overall wellbeing of the citizenry and enjoined them to abide by all rules and regulations guiding the profession.
The Departmental President, Mr. Patrick Okechukwu, said the occasion gave them the opportunity to acknowledge the importance of hard work and thanked all who graced the occasion.
 Some of the inductees, Chuka Okoro, Stella Onuora, Munachi Igboke, Olisaemeka Nwike, Samuel Ogechukwu and Florence Anazodo expresed their delight and thanked God for the occasion, promising to live up to expectations.
Highlights included presentation of Certificates and plaques to the new inductees.
