In continuation of his tour of facilities and projects in all the communities in Ogbaru LGA, the Chairman of the Council,  Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu, yesterday visited Ogwuaniocha and took time to inspect the Ossomala-Umunankwo-Mputu-Ogwuaniocha road.

A representative of TAMAD Construction Company, the company handling the road project, Engr. Nasser Naresh was also part of the inspection tour. The Council Chairman while thanking the governor of Anambra state, Chief Willie Obiano, for the continuous progress on the road said that the speedy competition of the road is the only  joy awaiting the people of Ogwuaniocha in particularly and Ogbaru in general.

The Council Chairman at a spot called Uyali, recounted how in 2017 his SUV while on official assignment to Ogwuaniocha was trapped in the mud and it took a whole day to pull the vehicle out of the wet soil: "But today, bridge has been built there and one can drive pass Uyali without remembering how it was some few months ago." He commended Gov. Willie Obiano for his concern for the Ogwuaniocha and other roads in Ogbaru but said that it is only one lane that has been stonebased remaining about 3 and half kilometres, while the other lane is not done at all which still leaves the road very much not near completion.

The manager of the construction company, Engr. Nasser Naresh lamented that non release of funds has greatly hampered the progress on the road but assured that the road will be completed within one year if funds are made available. He affirmed that the rainy season that has set in will not be a problem to the progress of work on the road if funds are released.

A community leader in the area and the supervisor of the project, Hon. Donatus N. Chukwudile said that work has stopped completely on the road and appealed to government to release money to the construction company in order to continue with the work: "We are very very happy that by this time of the year we can get to Ogwuaniocha with our vehicles,  it has never happened before. But you can see that work has stopped and the construction company said it is because they have not been paid since July 2017. We appeal to our working governor whom we voted for in the November 18th governorship election to release money so that our people could smile for having voted for him."

The Council Chairman however assured that the governor, Chief Willie Obiano is desirous of seeing the completion of the Ossomala-Umunankwo-Mputu-Ogwuaniocha road and that his attention will be drawn to the current stoppage of work on the road and assured that work will continue in ernest on the road.
