The Anambra State Government is to set up a Committee to investigate the cause and extent of damage of the fire disaster that occurred at Nkwogbe Market Ihiala, Ihiala Local Government Area on Sunday.

The Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Dr Christian Mmadubuko announced this when he led the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C. Don Adinuba, the Ihiala Transition Committee Chairman, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Odumegwu and other top government functionaries on a visit to the market.
The fire disaster said to have started on Sunday around three o’clock in the evening, according to unconfirmed eye witness reports, triggered after a cooking gas busted inside one of the lock up stores, burning to ashes goods speculated to worth hundreds of millions of Naira.
On arrival, some of those affected by the fire were seen picking the rubbles of their wares while sympathizers were standing around discussing the disaster.
Addressing the traders, The Trade and Commerce Commissioner, Dr Mmadubuko said that the committee will in a few days collate the names of those affected by the fire and assured that government will also make arrangements to situate fire Stations closer to markets across the state. 
On his part, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Adinuba decried the situation and assured the victims of government's speedy response in measures to cushion the effects of the disaster while commending Mr. Sunny Udobi who made available his Water trucks used to quench the fire at no cost.
Some of the traders affected by the fire disaster, who spoke to ABS, could not hide their griefs.
The Commissioners later led the entourage to visit a nonagenarian who was saved from the fire.
