The Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Sector Command yesterday took to the street in commemoration of 2018 West Africa Road Safety Organization Day. WARSO

The commemoration which kick started with a road walk from the FRSC Corporate Headquarters at Amawbia by FRSC personnel through Kwata Junction to Arroma junction down to Government House Agu-Awka and back to Amawbia sensitizing and enlightening the public on road safety tips.
 Addressing the press on this year's celebration with the theme "WARSO in ten years: ‘The Journey so Far", the State Sector Commander, Mr. Sunday Ajayi noted that the celebration is aimed at achieving safe and free movement on the road, enhance development in the sub region, conduct researches on road safety and advise and support national road safety of the fifteen member countries.
 Mr. Ajayi recalled some of the achievements of the organization to include adoption of template for passenger manifest, incorporating road safety study into basic education curriculum, adoption of template for collation of statistical data by member country.
He appreciated Governor Willie Obiano and Ndi Anambra for their overwhelming support, warning against some critical road offences like route violation, traffic light, speed limit, tyre violation and use of phone while driving.
 The Managing Director, Anambra State Traffic Management Agency, Mr. Chris Uzoechina, emphasized the need for safety on the road and urged road users to cooperate with the corps to reduce road crashes, reminding all to always have in mind those they left behind at home while on road even as he assured the command of the state government's continued support.
 On his part, the Deputy Commander of the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, Mr. Alao Moses described the day as inspiring and commended the efforts of the command in tackling the challenges of road traffic crashes around the state but expressed concern on the reoccurring accident at Agu-Awka junction, calling for urgent measures to arrest the situation. 
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari on this occasion felicitated with the management and staff of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) as the organisation celebrates 30 years of its establishment.
