Governor Willie Obiano has appealed to mothers and Caregivers in the state to bring their children and wards to various designated centres across the state for them to be vaccinated against Wild Polio Virus.

Governor Obiano made this appeal during the Flag Off Ceremony of the First Round of 2018 National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDS) held at Primary Health Centre, Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area.
Flagging Off the exercise, governor Obiano represented by the Secretary to the State government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, described health as one the major pillars of his enablers and urged mothers and Caregivers to ensure that they use the opportunity of the exercise to immunize their children, as his administration places high emphasis on the well being of Ndi Anambra.
Governor Obiano who also pointed out that his government has renovated sixth- three primary health centres across the state, equipped them with all the necessary facilities to make them functional, noted that the state Health Insurance Scheme initiated and signed into law by his administration is geared towards giving Ndi Anambra a quality and affordable health care system that is of international standard.
The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr. Mrs. Chioma Ezenyimulu in her address, thanked Governor Obiano for his keen interest in primary health which she revealed, is yielding great results and commended the development partners in the state for their support.
Speaking on behalf of the development partners, Mr. Edward Okeke of the World Health Organization eulogized the state government for being responsive in the payment of their counterpart funds and reiterated their resolve to remain supportive to the state government’s efforts towards sustaining Polio free status and eradication of Polio in Nigeria.
Two mothers Chinyeaka Ogidi and Ifunanya Onwurah, described Immunization as the best way to protect children from the disease and called on mothers and caregivers to bring their children and wards to various designated centres for them to be vaccinated.
The exercise will commence today and end on Tuesday next week while official Flag off of the exercise by the Governor formed the highlight of the event.
