As Catholic faithful worldwide yesterday marked Mothering Sunday, the wife of the state Governor, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, has called on Mothers to wake to their responsibilities as nation builders.

The Wife of the Governor made the call during a special Sunday at Saint Mary's Catholic Church Awka, where she celebrated the event with the parish mothers.
Chief Mrs Obiano, who described child's training and care as the primary responsibility of every mother, noted that motherhood is not only the ability to give birth, but also ability to build a happy home and raise children that would be problem solvers and not problems.
She called on Mothers to love their children equally for peace to reign in their homes, recommending prayers as antidote to challenges facing mothers in various families, as according to her, motherhood is not an easy task and as such they should trust God in all things in order to surmount their challenges.
Earlier in a homily, the officiating Priest, Reverend Father Chidiebele Nnabugwu, while commending mothers on their contributions to the development of the church and society, regretted that many of them have failed in their duties as mothers, urging them to retrace their steps for a better home and society.
Reverend Father Nnabugwu, reminded the mothers that the power to build or destroy their homes is in their hands, and called on them to prioritize their children and husbands’ welfare over business and other commitments even as he enjoined fathers and children to love and support their wives and mothers.
Some Mothers at the church, including the former Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Dr. Vero Okechukwu, thanked God for making them witness this year's event and promised to amend their ways where necessary.
Thanksgiving by the mothers, prayers, and rendition by the choir, formed the highpoints of the church service.
