The Wife of the State Governor, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano gave the charge at Saint Mathew's Catholic Church, Amawbia, in Awka South Local government, during a Holy Mass to mark this year's Mothering Sunday as well as the feast of the Divine Mercy.
The Governor's wife who was represented by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-denominational Religions, Lady Ify Atogu, described Mothers as the neck that turns the head, saying that good wives are assets to their various families.
Chief Mrs Obiano cautioned parents against making uncomplimentary remarks before their children.
Earlier in a homily, the Parish Priest of the Church, Reverend Father Val Oformata, urged mothers to emulate the virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary which include love and humility and cautioned them against relegating their domestic responsibilities to their house helps. 
Reverend Father Oformata who prayed for Mothers, also admonished wives to always pray for their families in addition to encouraging their husbands to take active part in the things of the Lord.
The President of the Catholic Women’s Organization, in the Parish Lady Eunice Anaemena, described Mothers as God's gift and posited that wherever there is peace, the Mother is certainly living up to expectations.
One of the women leaders, Mrs. Virginia Ogbonna, encouraged fellow Mothers to always respect their husbands in addition to bringing up their children in the fear of the Lord.
