The chairman of Ogbaru local government area, Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu, yesterday visited the area believed to be the cause of the now unending flooding of most parts of Okoti-Iyiowa-Odorobber in Odekpe area of Ogbaru local government which also affects Ohita and parts of Atani community and blamed it on the failure to observe Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) on the part of the company that handled the powerlines project that passed through the area.
The flooding of the area which has led to the loss of hectares of farmland and residential layouts  was caused by the sand filling and blockage of a free flowing river along the pathway of the high tension powerlines by the construction company without creating enough openings for the river to flow freely.
Hon. Awogu regretted the untold suffering and hardship the situation has brought upon the people of Odekpe and Ogbaru and said that it is way beyond the capability of the local government to hand but assured that the attention of His Excellency, Dr. Willie Obiano will be drawn to it for immediate intervention to avert further losses.
