Ministries , Departments and Agencies of Anambra State Government has commenced defense of the 2018 Appropriation Bill before the State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation .

The aim of the exercise was to give the 2018 Appropriation bill accelerated passage.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Chief Obinna Emeneka explained that the essence of the exercise was to see how all Ministries implemented their 2017 budget and to ensure that funds allocated to them in 2018 Appropriation Bill is thoroughly scrutinized as well as capture the programmes of the state government.
Chief Emeneka maintained that it will enable them to allocate funds properly and achieve a realistic budget.
While defending the 2018 Appropriation Bill allocation to the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, the Commissioner Mr. Mark Okoye explained that their focus is to grow the state internally generated revenue from one point five billion to two point five billion by attracting more development partners, close linkages, automated processes and improve the general revenue administration in the state.
Mr. Okoye revealed that in two months time there will be improvement in the States IGR as his Ministry has fine tuned strategies to get those who are reluctant to pay their taxes to do so as it will enable government accomplish more lofty projects for the state.
During the exercise, the Ministries of Lands and Science and Technology also appeared before the committee with their Commissioners and defended their 2018 proposed budget.
