Fw: Flag off of Governor's Re-election campaign in Onitsha South



Anambra State Government has directed the deployment of 3 detachments of Policemen to Onitsha North and South Council areas to intensify security in the areas. 
Governor Willie Obiano disclosed this at Godwin Achebe mini Stadium, Fegge-Onitsha when he inaugurated his  reelection campaigns in Onitsha South Council Area.
The rally which brought together members of APGA and various support groups from the area, also attracted APGA stakeholders.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, Governor Obiano explained that the detachments which will comprise 30 mobile policemen each,  will commence operations today to tackle the recent pockets of armed robbery challenges witnessed in the area. 
He also said his government has set up a taskforce to pick up some criminals who molest commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators in Onitsha under the guise of government revenue collectors. 
Governor Obiano called on people of the Council Area to support his second term bid to enable him continue with the transformation of the state. 
The Chairman of the Governor's re-election campaign committee, Chief Victor Umeh who described APGA as the only political Party through which Ndigbo can gain relevance in the country's polity, said Governor Obiano's victory in the November 18th governorship election holds great prospects for the survival of the soul of the Igbo nation.
Former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Chukwuma Soludo in his remarks, pointed out that none of the persons contesting against Governor Obiano has presented Ndi Anambra with a credible alternative, stressing that the state has grown past the era when mediocrities are allowed to lead her. 
In their separate remarks, the Members representing Onitsha South One Constituency in the State Assembly, Mr Patrick Aniuno and his Onitsha South Two counterpart, Mrs Beverly Nkemdiche-Ikpeazu pointed out that since APGA is doing well, there is no vacancy in the state government House. 
Also speaking, some APGA stakeholders including Dr Theodore Okonkwo and Mr Olisa Aniuno said Onitsha South have every reason to support Governor Obiano because of his security initiative that sanitized the area. 
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the APGA Chairman for the Council Area, Mr Mofus Ezeoba assured the governor that APGA will win the 200 polling units in the Council Area. 
Performances by various support groups formed the highpoints of the event.
