Fw: Flag off of 2017 Agric Show and World food day in Anambra


Governor Willie Obiano has inaugurated the 2017 Agric Show / World Food Day in the State. 
Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka was the venue for the event where farmers from communities in the State trouped out with their various farm produce. 
The 2017 world food Day in the State with the theme "National Economic Recovery through Agric Optimization ", Governor Obiano also distributed improved seedlings and agricultural equipment including destoners, tillers and winnowers to over 820 farmers across the various crop belts. 
The governor had on arrival at the square, toured the various stands at the ongoing Anambra Trade Fair where he inspected goods exhibited. 
Declaring the event open, Governor Obiano said his government in implementing its Agricultural transformation blueprint, had taken strategic steps that have greatly aided farmers in the state boost their production. 
Some of these he noted include provision of improved seedlings and clearing of land for farmers, creating of database for all registered farmers and organizing them in cooperatives as well as provision of financial support to them through a loan scheme from the state Small Business Agency, ASBA.
The governor also spoke on the dry vegetables export which the State is presently doing through a private investor, Tiger foods which according to him, has put the state on the global map for agriculture. 
He further said through the provision of termite-resistant, vitamin E cassava  stems to farmers,  his government is gradually phasing out the old specie that has retarded growth. 
The governor expressed appreciation to the state farmers for effectively driving his vision for agricultural revolution in the state and assured that his government will sustain its support towards ensuring that they get maximum returns for their activities.
